The dress code for doctoral graduates is different than that for bachelor’s degree recipients. They wear a robe with velvet lapels and three chevrons on the sleeve, indicating that they are doctors. Doctoral degree recipients do not wear a mortarboard and instead wear a tam, which is a cap made of velvet with a gold tassel.
